Waybound Studio

The road is the destination

Waybound Studio

A suite of applications designed to help you get the most out of your journey – by guiding, supporting and inspiring you every step of the way.

Three ways in

What do you want to do?

Waybound Studio is a suite, not a single app. Choose what fits right now, and we'll guide the rest.

What makes Waybound Studio different?

Waybound Studio isn't built to find the fastest route between two points — it's built for the whole journey, from idea to memory.

🧭

The idea to the journey

Travel Guide suggests the direction from a feeling, Route Planner shapes it into daily stages, stops and rules — all before you get in the car.

🚐

Company along the way

On The Road, Android Auto, Explorer and Car Bingo ride along in the car — and Open Places, invisible but always there, powers the stop search behind all of them.

📖

The story afterwards

Quests collects the honor badges for every detour. Happy Trails tells the journey in the rearview mirror, in your own voice.

When should you use Waybound Studio?

Plan the vacation

Travel Guide and Route Planner shape the trip concept before you drive.

Keep the kids engaged

Explorer and Car Bingo turn breaks and the drive itself into part of the adventure.

Find better stops

690,000+ open places via Open Places, with traceable origin.

Remember the trip afterwards

Quests collects the honor badges, Happy Trails tells the journey in your own voice.

Why not just Google Maps?

Route Planner does not replace Google Maps or Google My Maps. It complements them by handling the planning before navigation.

FAQ

Is this Google Maps?

No. Route Planner may use map and place data, but focuses on multi-day journey planning.

Do I need a Google API key?

No, not on the free tier — it runs automatically on open services (OpenRouteService, Trafikverket and Open Places). Your own Google key is an optional upgrade if you want Google's map and place data instead.

Do I need to learn all nine modules?

No. Each module works on its own — start with whichever part of the journey feels most relevant right now and add more when you want.

Who is behind this?

Waybound Studio started as a question on a motorhome trip through Norway and northern Sweden. Read the whole story, and what it's built with.
